Vought Aircraft employees tee off for White Doves

PRESS RELEASE DATE: Oct. 16, 2009

The second annual White Doves golf tournament took place Oct. 10 at Eagle Marsh Country Club in Jensen Beach.

Attracting 80 golfers, the scramble-style tourney was sponsored by the Vought Can Do committee, a group of employees at Vought Aircraft Industries in Stuart dedicated to helping the White Doves Holiday Project provide for less fortunate Martin County residents during the holiday season.

“I would like to thank Dave Riley and the Can Do employee volunteer team at Vought Aircraft for putting on such a fun-filled tournament to benefit families in need this holiday season.” Martin Volunteers Advisory Board President Tom Weiksnar said.

According to Martin Volunteers Director Carol Hodnett, the golf tournament is just one of many fundraisers the Vought Can Do committee does throughout the year supporting the White Doves cause.

“Vought has been a tremendous supporter of the White Doves Holiday Project for many years,” Hodnett said. “Throughout the year, the employees sponsor events such as the upcoming Halloween costume contest, football games, a chili cook-off, a dunk the manager contest, lunches and breakfasts with all the proceeds supporting White Doves.”
