PRESS RELEASE DATE: Aug. 18,

United Way of Martin County's
Martin Volunteers program is on the forefront of
international volunteerism projects.
Martin Volunteers Director
Carol Hodnett has been selected by United Way of
America to serve as a member of the Global Research
and Product Development Team to provide expert input
to the creation of a Volunteer Center Development
Manual. The manual will provide step-by-step
guidance to people who want to create, manage and
nurture volunteer centers in their communities
throughout the world.
The sixteen member team
consists of representatives from the United States,
Taiwan, Japan, Nigeria, India, Canada and United
Arab Emirates. These volunteer leaders from around
the world met recently in Alexandria, VA to create a
first draft of the manual, which will be presented
to the United Nations at the Volunteer Headquarters
in Germany.
Martin Volunteers is a United
Way of Martin County program and its Retired and
Senior Volunteer Program is funded in part by a
grant from the Corporation for National Service.
