Corporation for National
and Community Service

The Corporation is a U.S. government entity that provides grants, training and technical assistance to volunteer organizations. The Corporation is the federal agency that funds Martin County's Retired and Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP). United Way of Martin County is the local sponsor.

Senior Corps
and Join Senior Service Now!

The Senior Corps is a national network of projects that place older people in volunteer assignments in their communities. There are three national programs under its umbrella:

  • Retired and Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP), which is "one stop shopping" for senior volunteers.

  • Foster Grandparent Program, which links senior volunteers to children who need their help.

  • Senior Companion Program, which places volunteers with adults needing extra assistance to live in the community.

Points of Light Foundation
The Points of Light Foundation advocates community service through a partnership with the Volunteer Center National Network. Together, they engage and mobilize millions of volunteers who are helping to solve serious social problems in thousands of communities. The Points of Light Foundation most recently has supplied the grant to support the VCRC project called Executive Service Corps of the Treasure Coast.

Volunteer Florida
Volunteer Florida is a state entity also known as the Governor’s Commission on Volunteerism and Community Service. Its mission is is to strengthen communities in Florida through volunteerism and service. One way is to offer funding opportunities, such as Operation Step Up, a grant program VCRC participated in for three years.

Volunteer Florida Foundation
The foundation's programs include the Governor's Family Literacy Initiative, the Florida Mentoring Partnership (which has helped to fund Mentors for Martin), the Governor's Faith-Based and Community Advisory Board, the Governor's Points of Light Award and the Florida Hurricane Relief Fund.

Hobe Sound Community Chest
The Hobe Sound Community Chest, founded in 1949, is the major contributor to human services in Hobe Sound. It contributes to VCRC to boost volunteerism in Hobe Sound and serve agencies the Chest supports.

Martin County, Fla.
The official government and community resource for Martin County. VCRC receives partial funding from the county to support volunteerism.

Florida Association of
Volunteer Centers (FAVC)

FAVC is a vital association that provides a network of support and professional development to the leaders of Florida’s volunteer centers, including VCRC.

A popular online service that serves as an Internet-based recruiting tool for more than 30,000 nonprofit organizations.

Independent Sector
Independent Sector is the premier leadership forum for charities, foundations, and corporate giving programs committed to advancing the common good in America and around the world. Among its research each year is estimating the dollar value of volunteer time, which for 005, was $18.04 per hour.

USA Freedom Corps
USA Freedom Corps promotes and expands volunteer service in America by partnering with national service programs, working to strengthen the non-profit sector, recognizing volunteers, and helping to connect individuals with volunteer opportunities.
