Corporation for National
and Community Service

The Corporation is a U.S. government entity that provides grants, training and technical assistance to volunteer organizations. The Corporation is the federal agency that funds Martin County's Retired and Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP). United Way of Martin County is the local sponsor.

Senior Corps
The Senior Corps is a national network of projects that place older people in volunteer assignments in their communities. There are three national programs under its umbrella:

  • Retired and Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP), which is "one stop shopping" for senior volunteers.

  • Foster Grandparent Program, which links senior volunteers to children who need their help.

  • Senior Companion Program, which places volunteers with adults needing extra assistance to live in the community.

HandsOn Network
and Points of Light Institute

The Points of Light Foundation and Hands on Network have merged into a single organization with a shared vision and a shared set of goals. The new organization, now called Points of Light Institute, is implementing a bold new strategy to create unprecedented scale and people-centered community impact through volunteerism and civic involvement.

HandsOn Network is the leading business unit within the Points of Light Institute portfolio and the activating arm. It is the largest volunteer and citizen action network in the nation.

Volunteer Florida
Volunteer Florida is a state entity also known as the Governor’s Commission on Volunteerism and Community Service. Its mission is is to strengthen communities in Florida through volunteerism and service. One way is to offer funding opportunities, such as Operation Step Up, a grant program in which Martin Volunteers participated for three years.

Volunteer Florida Foundation
The foundation's programs include the Governor's Family Literacy Initiative, the Florida Mentoring Partnership (which has helped to fund Mentors for Martin), the Governor's Faith-Based and Community Advisory Board, the Governor's Points of Light Award and the Florida Hurricane Relief Fund.

Hobe Sound Community Chest
The Hobe Sound Community Chest, founded in 1949, is the major contributor to human services in Hobe Sound. It contributes to Martin Volunteers to boost volunteerism in Hobe Sound and serve agencies the Chest supports.

Florida Association of
Volunteer Centers (FAVC)

FAVC is a vital association that provides a network of support and professional development to the leaders of Florida’s volunteer centers, including Martin Volunteers.

Independent Sector
Independent Sector is the premier leadership forum for charities, foundations, and corporate giving programs committed to advancing the common good in America and around the world. Among its research each year is estimating the dollar value of volunteer time, which for 2007, was $19.51 per hour.

USA Freedom Corps
USA Freedom Corps promotes and expands volunteer service in America by partnering with national service programs, working to strengthen the non-profit sector, recognizing volunteers, and helping to connect individuals with volunteer opportunities.
