Mentors for Martin is
presenting a free event for anyone who is involved
in mentoring or would like to become a mentor.
Author and instructor Robert
Petro will lead “A Mind Journey to Mentoring,”
discussing his own experiences in mentoring and
presenting information about the “Tell Your Mentor”
interactive self-discovery software program.
The event will be 5:30 to 7:30
p.m. Nov. 17 at the Wolf High-Technology Center on
the IRCC Chastain Campus, Salerno Road, Stuart.
Admission is free, but RSVP in
advance to Shannon Midkiff, (772) 220-4472, ext. 228
or
smidkiff@martinvolunteers.org.
“This seminar is a valuable
opportunity if you are a mentor or think you would
like to become a mentor,” said Shannon Midkiff,
volunteer services coordinator for the United Way
Volunteer & Community Resource Center (VCRC).
Petro’s books include
“Windspirit: The Making of a Medicine Man,” in which
a mentor leads a defiant young Native American man
toward the fulfillment of his life’s dream. In “Book
of Secrets,” Petro draws upon his own rough
beginnings to craft a colorful tale set in Mexico at
the turn-of-the-century that reveals secrets for
attaining true success.
The “Tell Your Mentor” software
program helps people identify personal problems,
explore options and learn skills necessary to create
their own solutions.
Prospective and current mentors
will be able to ask questions and network with
representatives of local mentoring organizations.
Refreshments will be served.
The event is being presented by
Mentors for Martin, a collaborative of local
agencies dedicated to promoting quality mentoring.
