The Volunteer &
Community Resource Center (VCRC)
held the drawing for its 15th annual
“Good Times” raffle recently,
partnering with Stuart Fine Foods to
give away $2,600 in free groceries.
Joe Mazzocchi
Sr. at Stuart Fine Foods graciously
donates the prizes each year and
enthusiastic volunteers sell the
tickets, which are just $2 each or 3
for $5.
The raffle
ticket sales this year amounted to
more than $7,000 -- the most ever in
Good Times history. Proceeds go
toward volunteer services provided
by VCRC, a program of United Way of
Martin County.
The drawing
took place March 16 during a
recognition luncheon for Retired and
Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP)
members at Carrabba’s Italian Grill
in Stuart. The winners were as
follows:
-
First prize
-- Flo Landry, $1,300 in
groceries at Stuart Fine Foods.
-
Second
prize -- Mike Hoy, $750 in
groceries.
-
Third prize
-- Diane Martin, $550 in
groceries.
The winning
tickets are good at either of the
Stuart Fine Foods locations.
The raffle
raises funds for VCRC, which
coordinates such large-scale
projects as the White Doves Holiday
Project, the School Supplies for
Students Drive, leadership
development for volunteer
coordinators at nonprofit
organizations, and disaster
services. VCRC, a program of United
Way or Martin County, also includes
the Retired and Senior Volunteer
Program (RSVP).
“RSVP
volunteers contribute their time,
talents and expertise to nonprofit
and public agencies,”
VCRC director Carol Hodnett said.
“We appreciate the volunteers and
everyone who supports our efforts of
connecting people with opportunities
to serve, making Martin County such
a wonderful place to live and work.”
