The
Volunteer & Community Resource
Center (VCRC) is stocked up for
summer with volunteer
opportunities for teens and is
bringing the information to the
Teen Summer Slam Jam on June 17.
VCRC has
volunteer opportunities for
youths 14-18 at a variety of
agencies and organizations
throughout Martin County.
In addition
to helping others, volunteering
can help teens use their
talents, learn new skills and
beat boredom.
“If you
find yourself sitting around the
house feeling totally bored,
volunteering can be a great way
to change things,” said Carol
Hodnett, director of VCRC.
Information
about volunteering is always
available by calling VCRC at
(772) 220-4472 or visiting
www.martinvolunteers.org.
But as a special outreach
effort, VCRC will have
information available at its
booth at the Teen Summer Slam
Jam event on June 17.
The Summer
Slam Jam is a free event being
held noon to 10 p.m. June 17 at
Langford Park and the Rio/Jensen
Skate Park. (The rain date is
June 18.) It’s for teens and
their families looking for a
fun-filled day.
The event
will feature live bands and DJs,
a fashion show, skate demo,
sport competitions and even a
“beach area” to relax and cool
off under sprinklers. For more
information about the Slam Jam,
contact Danielle Larschan at
(772) 463-2801 or
